Cookery Contest held in Warangal

The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) and Hands in Hospitality Chef’s Association organised a Cooking competition in Warangal on Monday. It was held at Hotel Papadams Blue, Hanamkonda. The theme of the competition is Paushetik Vegetarian.

Gundu Sudha Rani. Honourable Mayor of Warangal Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the contest. Lions District Governor Kanna Parshuramulu was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion Smt Gundu Sudha Rani sought help from COWE to train street vendors in marketing their products as well as branding. Warangal city has 80,000 street vendors of which 27000 availed loans and 40,000 registered for loans. They need to be trained in marketing, self confidence and branding.


We have banned plastic less than 120 microns in the city. As an alternative we trained few street vendors to manufacture paper and jute bags. But they are unable to brand well and market their products. She sought COWE help.

The Cooking competition” is titled as “Mera Swad Mera Swaasth”

50 women took part in the contest.

Rama Devi for her two layer healthy Laddu; Sreelatha for Dhanvanthri Pulav and P. Devi, Korrala Pulav stood top three.

The consolation prize winners include Shanthi for Millets Ambali; B. Sunitha for her dish Saddula Payasam; Sravanthi for Paushtik Laddu; A Lakshmi for millet veg pulav and Ayesha for Soya Haleem

All the winners will be participating in finals which will be held on Oct 16, 2022 in Hyderabad where they have to cook live.

It is a four city contest being held in Telangana. It started from Karimnagar on 17th August, 2022. Subsequently it will be held in Nizamabad on 8th September and Mahabubnagar on 22nd September. The finals will be held on 16th October in Hyderabad. Anyone can participate.


Ms. Sandhya Reddy of COWE disclosed that it was a contest with a purpose through which talented rural women with entrepreneurial aspirations are spotted and turned into women entrepreneurs.

All the participants were given away Prizes, Aprons and Certificates

It was the competition open for women

The chefs from HHCA judged the food based on the healthy nature of the food, concept, innovation, presentation.

About 500 women are expected to participate in the contest. 35% of these women will be converted into women entrepreneurs.
