J R D - "Father of Entrepreneurs"

Updated: Jul 29, 2021

Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata, popularly known as J R D Tata, was much more than ' an industrialist '.

J R D = Indian Business Empire

J R D = Excellence

Though he was born in Paris, the unreplaceable position he got in India, is unforgettable. We cannot imagine " India ", in Business and Industry, without J R D.

  • He was the first pilot license holder in India (1929)

  • He established Tata Motors (1940)

  • He established Air India International (1940)

  • He established Tata Consultancy Services (1968)

  • He received the Padma Vibushan Award (1955)

  • He established Titan Company Ltd. (1984)

J.R.D. Tata was a man of excellence. He was ambitious. Yes, he had a family and loved them beyond measure, but he couldn’t sleep if he didn’t have a reasonable day at work.

“Live life a little dangerously.” – JRD Tata

TATA was the first name among businesses and industries to provide healthcare facilities, insurance, allowances to workers. He never saw another employee, even a janitor, as not being a part of the company. He was approachable to anybody in the organization.

“Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without deep thought and hard work.” - JRD Tata

He was not only a successful businessman but a true leader too. Under his guidance, several institutions were established to promote scientific, medical, and artistic endeavors in India. These included the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Tata Memorial Hospital, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, the National Institute of Advanced Sciences, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

He was an early advocate of family planning (politically an often unpopular position), and in 1971 he created the Family Planning Foundation.

Never start with difference, always start with confidence - JRD Tata

We are blessed, my dear entrepreneur friends, as we were born in India, where entrepreneurship was pioneered by the great leader and true entrepreneur J. R. D, with an equal responsibility on our shoulders to maintain the legacy, with excellent and noble work.

On the 117th birth anniversary, We salute you, Sir!
