Could you believe that your thoughts are responsible for the success?
Could you believe that your own beliefs, impact your success or failure (!)?
Yes, you read it correctly...
According to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, your beliefs play a pivotal role in what you want and whether you achieve it. Dweck has found that it is your mindset that plays a significant role in determining achievement and success.
What exactly is a mindset?
Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation. It is a set of assumptions, methods, notions held by people or groups of people.
The entrepreneurial mindset is about a certain way of thinking — it is about how you approach challenges and mistakes. It is about learning from failures. It is more about interacting with people than leading a group of people. It is about an inherent need to improve your skillset and to try and try again.
In simple words, mindset is like soil. You can not grow all types of crops in the same soil. Some plants are tall. Some are like bushes. Some plants demand more water. Some plants demand more sunlight.
If the soil is well suited for cultivation, then the roots of plants get enough water, air, and space to grow. Loamy soil is ideal for growing crops such as wheat, sugarcane, cotton, jute, pulses, and oilseeds. Whereas, melon and coconut grow in sandy soil.
If we try to grow coconut in loamy soil or sugarcane in sandy soil, then just don't expect any results !! If we do the buisness, with an " employee " mindset, we may not able to achieve our goals.
Being a successful entrepreneur requires outside-the-box thinking and larger-than-life ideas.
Everyone has several ideas for business or startup. But, everyone cannot be an entrepreneur. Building a successful business, around an idea, is the entrepreneurial challenge. And the challenge is for the lifetime.
The entrepreneurial mindset is unique in that one must be creative, communicative, and highly motivated to succeed, yet open to risk and failure. One cannot build a successful sustainable startup, in absence of an appropriate mindset.
‘When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do’
Similarly, if you are in business, cultivate the entrepreneurs' mindset. Those who want to build a successful sustainable startup have to work on his or her mindset.
