Women account for 16% of Rotary membership in India and 12.9% in Telangana.

.The second Installation of Rotary Club of Lake District Moinabad, only one of its kind of Rotary Club comprising of CEOs and Business Owners held at Hotel Hyatt Place, Banjara Hills on Thursday night

The unique distinction of Rotary Club of Lake District Moinabad is it is the first PHS Club in the entire rotary district of 3150. PHS means Paul Harris Society Club. With a contribution of 1000 US dollars per head per year, the club contributes 35000 dollars every year to the Rotary Foundation. It got this distinction the very first year of its formation.

Rotarian T. Rajashekhar Reddy, Rotary District Governor was the Chief Guest and administered oath of office to the incoming team lead by Patanjali Rao Upadrasta as President; Niraj Gelli as Secretary, Rani Reddy as Vice President, Dr. Sunita as Joint Secretary and Sameer Bhagat as Treasurer.

The new team succeeded the team led by Raghunathan Kannan and Ravindranath, who were President and Secretary, respectively for 2020-2022, two year terms.


Addressing the 100 plus gathering immediately after installation, Patanjali Rao outlined the projects for the year. We will take up 365 Day Medical Camps across Telangana for Women, Orphans and Senior Citizens. This is the first ever in the history of Rotary District 3150, a club is undertaking Health Checkup camps---Medical, Dental and Eye Checkups on every day of the year for the next 365 days. These camps would be taken up at Orphanages, Old Age Homes and government run residential hostels. The Club is soon commencing a self-sustaining Plastic Recycling Plant next month at Vizag. It is being set up at an investment of INR 80 lakh with a global grant from Rotary Foundation.

Club will adopt a village in Narayanpet under the 'Gram Vikas' program of the Governor of the District. 700 bicycles will be donated to girls in Narayanpet district very soon.

Speaking on the occasion Rotarian T. Rajashekhar Reddy, Rotary District Governor said Jennifer E. Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, has become Rotary International’s first women president for the year 2022-23. It is a ground breaking selection which makes her the first woman to hold office in the organization’s 117-year history. She has taken over as president of Rotary International this month from July 1, 2022.


Speaking further he added that Jones visited India earlier this month on maiden visit. During her visit she hoped to break many stereotypes involving women in higher posts and said India is no longer a “help-seeking nation” but a “help-giving” one.

With 1.4 million members across 200 countries, India accounts for over 50 per cent of the global annual membership growth, Rajshekhar Reddy informed. Rotary is looking at increasing the representation of women in leadership roles to 30%’. 124 countries out of 200 where Rotary is active have already achieved 30% status of women in Rotary. Women accounted for 16% of Rotary membership in India. But it is 12.9% in Rotary District 3150, which comprises the entire Telangana, Guntur and Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh, she told the audience.

Speaking further he added that Rotary International targets to increase the representation of women in its leadership roles across the globe to 30% by 2023.Currently 24% of the membership of the Rotary family are women which would be taken up to 30% in next one year.
